Transfers

Hey friends and family!

I'm sorry that I don't really have much time to write today. Today has been tightly booked. We had an Endowment session in the Salt Lake Temple as a mission this morning. We might have one more in December. But, this is one of the last ones as a mission to SLC. The Temple has been crazy busy. I swear we've seen near 20 marriages on Temple Square today alone and we had to show up at 7:00 for the 8:00 session to ensure a seat. All business aside, the temple always sends a feeling of home to me. The feeling of returning to a place where I used to reside is always there. It truly is heaven on earth.

We also had the All hands meeting for the FHL. Which I just got back from. Things are speeding along at an exponential rate in the library. Recently, they've removed a lot of the old Film readers to make room for more of the advanced workstations currently on the 2nd floor. They should be on every floor by the 13 of December. They've moved a lot of the film closer together to get rid of any empty space. This has allowed us to remove some of the film cabinets from each floor, freeing up more room. They're also currently working on bringing a lot of the off-site storage books back into the Library's collection. This is going to be a bit more of a long process as there's lot's of things that need to be taken care of for that to happen. But, it's underway.

Transfers did come on Tuesday (Hence the Friday P-day). I am now in International Services located on the B1 floor of the family history library. So, yep I'm back in the basement. I think it's going to be an interesting challenge. I'm refreshing mein Deutsch Sprechend. As well as trying to get certified in German research.
As I've been working the library these past 18 months, I came to know that if I ever got sent there it would be my greatest challenge of a zone. It is completely unique among the floors. There are research specialists in far vast more numbers, multiple areas for different nationalities of research, and English is very optional. There's also 120 missionaries that operate on the single floor. Way more than any other floor in the library. It's pretty packed in down there and it's a lot to get accustomed to. I've only worked there for two days so far and right now I'm just trying to get the lay of the land. Where things are located, and becoming associated with the missionaries. I'm also working really hard at getting good at an area of research quickly. I'm relearning how to speak German and do German research. Which consumes a lot of my time. The German/Slavic reference books are a little disorganized. But, I'm currently working on getting familiar with the many gazetteers they have.

So, that's pretty much where I'm at. My new companion is Elder Taylor. He was in my first district as a District Leader, we went to Leadership Council together for a while, and now he's my District Leader. So, we have to do check-ins to two different apartments each night. We get along great though and things are good.

I'm honestly doing fine. There's a lot of things I'm having to work on and learn that are really pushing me mentally. But, this is where my mission has been leading me since I got her

That's pretty much it for the week! I hope you all have a good one!

From,
Elder Hall
