Some Rest and back to work

Hey Family and Friends!

So this week had its challenges, but ultimately turned out well. Last week on P-day while I was stretching I had an old knee problem act up again that was pretty painful. The time before, it had righted itself within a few hours so I decided to wait a little bit before seeing a professional. Come Thursday I finally decided to see a doctor. I've always had knee problems. However, I've never actually seen anybody about it.

The InstaCare doctor couldn't really say much. So, she somehow managed to secure an appointment with a knee specialist within 10 minutes, which was pretty surprising. After some range of motion tests she said the most likely conclusion was that it was an abnormally shaped meniscus, which sometimes will get stuck in the joint. It is something people are born with, which would explain the lifetime of knee problems.

She told me to get an MRI pretty quickly. However, for some reason the people I was supposed to contact refuse to pick up the phone. In the meantime she told me to use crutches, take 800mg of Ibuprofen 3 times a day and ice it. I decided there was no way that I was going to pay a ton of money for the hospital crutches. So, I decided to get the ones from the Mission Nurses office. When I got those, I decided the crutches themselves were more of a hindrance than a help. On Friday, I spent the day on the couch icing and taking the amount of Ibuprofen I was told. However, by dinner time I was fed up with it.

By that time, the swelling had gone down significantly and the pain was still there but much more manageable. I cleaned my self up, switched into P-day clothes, and withing 25 minutes I was in a van heading up to Ensign Peak to do a service project, all the while walking on both feet.

On Saturday, I only took one of the 800mg doses in the morning, and went to Zone for the day. That evening was a lot of fun as we managed to get one of the senior couple missionaries to come with us so we could do Sealing to Parents at the temple. We were sealing for an hour-and-a-half, and got a ton of names done.

On Monday evening it was a lot of fun. As my companion and I were able to go to the Church Office Building Wellness Center, and we were able to get a really good workout in. I did a lot of bicycling on the Echo Bike. I was pretty proud of that as I had stopped taking Ibuprofen that day.

Last night, my companion and I both passed off our training for the British, Scottish, and Irish research. So, now we have enough of the knowledge to help the patrons when they come in. We're both pretty excited that training is over.

That's pretty much my week. My knee still has the meniscus caught. But I'm walking around on two feet and am on zero Ibuprofen so I think I'm doing pretty alright.

Catch you guys in the next one!

From,
Elder Hall
