Another week at headquarters

Hey Friends and Family,

I hope you all having an awesome week. We've been keeping pretty busy up here. One of the things about being up here in the Headquarters mission, is that there is a lot of routine. There's quite a bit of variance in that routine like with anything about life. Nevertheless, it's still a lot of fun. Particularly with the Discovery zone right now. We're just creeping into Summer and that means tourist season. Being here has allowed me to meet and talk with people from all over the planet. It's quite amazing to hear about their various backgrounds and reasons for coming, and is also even more amazing to see their family histories and about their ancestors. It's truly a gratifying experience.

On some of the less general stuff, last Thursday I spent the morning with the other Discovery District Leader at Leadership Council. It was also the Anniversary of D-Day. So, that was mainly what our Mission President decided to instruct us on. It was less on the actual event of D-Day, although a lot about the event was included. But, more on the reason that we were involved with it to begin with. It was about maintaining freedom and liberty and the ability to exercise our religious freedoms. This was the main topic along with our usual administrative matters.

Saturday night was my districts week to work the floor. It was actually really busy. We had quite a few families as well as tourists. Needless to say, we had quite a few people there.

On Sunday morning, my Companion and I attended Music and the Spoken Word over in the Conference Center. It had a been a little while since I'd attended and it was really good. I was particularly fond of the West Side Story piece 'Tonight’.

Church that afternoon was really good. We had a great discussion on the difference between God's law and Man's law. It was really interesting the insights that where had on trying to change someone's behavior versus trying to have them want to behave. Naturally there was also a lot of discussion on the Atonement and accessing it to become a bit better each day.

We had dinner with the Challis' on Sunday. They where honestly my favorite seniors to work with when in U.S. & Canada and man they really outdid themselves. They were some really good enchiladas.

Sunday after our dinner appointments, my Companion and I also decided to enjoy the nice weather. So, we went up to the State Capitol and walked around for a bit. So, that was a pretty good way we spent the evening.

On Monday, we had our Book of Mormon class taught by President Fenn. We went pretty in depth on 3 Nephi 12. Which is  a very doctrinally rich chapter. We mainly talked about the Beatitudes which included the two that where added in the Sermon in the Temple account, which are not found in the Sermon on the Mount account. We talked about how they're things we covenant to do as we come unto Christ and receive our Temple ordinances. So, it was a really good class.

This morning we had Young Elder Conference. So, that consumed about half of our P-day. However, it was still worth attending. The main topics that where discussed where on exact obedience, showing kindness and love to all those around, and going through the doctrine in Moroni 10:32-33. It was very informative and I learned a lot.

So, that's pretty much it for this week. I hope you all have a good one wherever you are and I'll write you in the next one!

From,
Elder Hall
