Piano Playing

Hey Friends and Family,
This week has been a bit of fun.
Last week the Mission Music Coordinator for the mission contacted me about playing piano for events. A few months ago, when a piano player was a no show for priesthood meeting I had stepped up and played the opening hymn. Apparently nobody knew I could until then, and the Music Coordinator had been looking for more people for event playing. So, I played the two hymns for a fireside on Sunday, and they've asked me to play the prelude for a Book of Mormon Class on Monday.  Playing piano again has been quite a bit of fun. The fireside went really well, and the Music Coordinator was actually really impressed. To quote him "That was awesome!". So I think I'm going to be playing a lot more in the future.
Besides that it's been a whole lot of Zone. The patrons have been pretty standard since it's winter. So, a whole lot of professional researchers or regular hobbyists. However, we've been pleasantly surprised with few walk-ins. Those are always the fun ones. The people who just know they want to get started, and they need help to do it.

We've also had quite a few events this week. I'll just mention a couple. On Sunday our district went to eat dinner with three Senior Sisters. I've eaten with them one time in the past. However, this was in a different apartment complex. They're also all islanders, so we all left stuffed. It was a good spiritual meeting though. Yesterday we also had a farewell luncheon in our zone for four missionaries finishing their service. It was a bit of an interesting sight in there. On one side there was a salad table, and on the other there was a bunch of brownies cakes, and the like. I'm not sure how that all balances out.  We also had all the Young Elders leave early from the Hail and Farewell because also on Monday night, we watched Prince of Egypt. I really love that movie. It was a lot of fun, and I burned the soundtrack to a CD. So I've been listening to it a bit throughout the week.

Zone's been interesting. It's honestly been a bit harder to deal with the Patrons this week. There just has seemed to be a lot more of the obnoxious or grumpy ones. However, you know what they say: "Just keep smiling boys!". We've also been slowly removing a lot of our microfilm readers from our floor. We're waiting for them to fully integrate the new workstations into our floor. The workstations will have a two-monitor computer and a ScanPro (the computer that digitally reads film without having to crank through it on analog). They've also replaced our pink survey cards. Which honestly nobody liked, and have added a four button touch screen survey machine at each exit. So, those have been a lot of fun. They're also getting ready to get rid of our pager desk. That way we don't have to tell someone when we're working with a Patron and where. But we'll just enter it into a computer when  we're done. So, Zone's been a lot of fun.

Anyway that's pretty much it for this week!

From,
Elder Hall
